Steven Healey

Main Speaker - Steven Healey CRM options and making use of such systems

Introduction to CRM

Customer relationship management has existed since businesses started, the need to look after customers has been paramount in any successful business.

Talk Notes and Links

Before computerised systems came into being, good sales representatives kept their own records in relation to each customer. When they visited a customer they had to hand all the relevant information with them, usually hand written.

They could look up notes of past meetings, they knew who the key contacts within a business where and kept notes on each important person.

CRM Today

We now live in an age of computerisation and clouds, where any member of our own teams can access information on customers and suppliers and the information gathered is held centrally.

In any organisation it is common to have centralised accounting system, to have a computerised Customer Relationship System is the next logical step.

In the next 30 minutes I am going to outline several ways in which you can take your email address book and convert to an online or networked CRM system.

The ingredients you already have, the software to make sense of that information is readily available.

The reasoning is simple the better care you take of existing customers, the greater your customer retention ratios will be.

The common features of CRM system are the ability to store customer details in a usable format including: -

  • Business addresses
  • Email addresses
  • Customer websites

Internet presence including: -

  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Twitter

Centralisation Of Notes

Customer notes can be kept centrally.

Customer enquiries can be logged and quotations created and forwarded to the customer.

Customer requests for assistance and queries can be logged and processed.

The information on customers is available to any member of staff, and when any customer contacts them, the full customer history is visible.

There is another side to this, whilst we are talking about customers, we can include such contacts
as: -

  • Prospects
  • Suppliers
  • Associates

Who do not fall under either category.

Steven Healey began his CRM journey many years ago as a user of differing systems.

His current review of the systems available began six months ago and I am now going to share the adventure with you using three systems as exemplars.

If you have any question along the way, please feel free to ask at the time. If I cannot answer them directly I will try at the end of this presentation, failing that I will point you in the right direction.

If you wish to take notes please do, there will be a link to this presentation on the SBC website.
